“It is my hope to bring my experience to your home and deliver not only delicious and fantastic meals, but a real appetite for the love of food.”- Chef David

Born and raised in Guilford, Chef David Ferguson is native to the Connecticut Shoreline. As a self-taught chef, David proves that dedication and passion is not something learned in a classroom. Unfulfilled as a graphic design major, he began to appreciate a new artistic outlet through his love of food. Taking seemingly disparate ingredients and bringing them together in new and beautiful ways was exciting. The ability to deliver such unique satisfaction to others through food provided a level of personal gratification incomparable to that of other creative pursuits. With that, he decided to switch careers and follow his true culinary passion.

In 2009, he embarked on a cross country journey to Los Angeles, California where he began to develop his talents and interests in the culinary world. After launching his start in catering and special events, he quickly moved up through several popular Los Angeles restaurants.

In 2011, he became the Sous Chef at the favored German eatery, Wirsthaus which soon became one of the top biergartens in the Los Angeles area.  From there, he joined The ONE Group as Junior Sous to some of L.A.’s hottest restaurants including chic steakhouse, STK and French bistro, Bagatelle. It is at these celebrity favorites that he honed his techniques in butchery as well as French cuisine. After only five years in Los Angeles, David found himself as Executive Chef of the Hollywood gastropub, Franklin and Co. Tavern. There he gained the creative freedom to develop his own menu and helped solidify it as a neighborhood favorite.

Understanding the inner workings of the culinary world has given him the appreciation and vision to offer the best product possible. After marrying the love of his life, he returned to the Connecticut shoreline in 2014. Rather than share his passion from behind a professional kitchen door, he decided to bring his services direct to the consumers’ family table. It was through this desire that Family Meal was founded.  At the end of 2016,  Chef David and his wife relocated to her hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee to bring Family Meal to a new audience.
